Dr. Hector Castro

 

A doctor and his assistant located in Lower Manhattan would write prescriptions to patients for the right amount of money. They wrote an average of 11 fraudulent prescriptions daily. They often never saw the patients in person but would still fill out prescription forms.

Pill Mills

 

Florida law has been working diligently to shut down "pill mills" within the state. Tougher laws are being enforced when it comes to the distribution of prescription medication. About 400 "pill mills" have been shut down.

Blame Doctors?

Are doctors to blame for prescription drug abuse? 2004 studies are used to represent the pros and cons of doctors and their interactions with the patients and prescriptions.

For The Doctor's Perspective

Doctors urge congress to assist when it comes to prescribing medication. Doctors claim they do not have the appropriate training to accurately asses the patient and determine if the patient is over-using the medication prescribed.
