DOCTORS

Doctors are contributing to a prescription drug abuse epidemic. There are around 4,000 overdose deaths in the United States and about half of those drugs were prescribed by a physician. Patient screening is not as accurate as it should be. Doctors may not be monitoring the patient efficiently. The CDC has claimed prescription drug abuse to be a world wide epidemic. The patient may be at fault for the drug abuse. More laws and regulations need to be put in place to monitor medical practices to determine if doctors are mainly to blame for contributing to prescription drug abuse.
