There are many citizens of the United States that have little to no healthcare insurance. Many medical care providers will only accept select brands of insurance making it extremely difficult for patients to receive care. Many of the patients seen at Guilford are considered self-pay patients. This means the patient pays a small fee to be seen at the clinic due to their lack of insurance. The staff at Guilford can perform routine medical procedures and even treat urgent medical problems such as those typically seen in the emergency room.

Robert Pear writes in an arrticle for The New York times, “The brenau reported that the proportion of people with employment-based coverage-54.9 percent in 2012” (Pear). The employer-based insurance will only cover a limited amount of office visits and specific methods of treatment. What does an employee do if he/she becomes chronically ill or needs to see a physician more than the covered number of visits? What are the other fourty-six percent of Americans doing to receive healthcare treatment? In addition, certain minorities have difficulty finding an insurance plan that will approve them for coverage.

Guilford Immediate care is an urgent care clinic that accepts clients with low to no insurance. Many of the patients seen at Guilford are considered self-pay patients. This means the patient pays a small fee to be seen at the clinic due to their lack of insurance. The staff at Guilford can perform routine medical procedures and even treat urgent medical problems such as those typically seen in the emergency room. Michele Segraves, a clinical nurse at Guilford Immediate Care, shared all of the possible treatments Guilford has to offer, “Guilford handles anything from minor injuries to minor surgeries.
